Kamm Gets Comeback Win At Canterbury

Shakopee, MN January 11th, 2017 – Not only is Canterbury Park the home race weekend for the Shakopee, Minnesota, based Hentges Racing team, one of the team’s main supporters, Pirtek, is the title sponsor for the event. Held this past January 6-8, the Pirtek National was a triple header weekend of racing. Day 3, Sunday, was a make-up day for the postponed Duluth event. Unlike the warm and foggy Duluth race, Canterbury fell smack dab in the midst of a brutal cold front that brought sub-zero temps all weekend. Adding to the challenge brought on by the weather, race organizers built the longest, biggest track riders have seen since the closing race last season with just about every terrain feature you’ll find at a snocross event.

Canterbury was where Kody Kamm’s season ended last year with injury. This season, Kamm went the opposite way, scoring his first race win for 2017 and taking 3rd place in the Duluth make-up race Sunday afternoon.
“Winning in front of the Hentges Racing hometown crowd on Saturday was amazing,” said Kamm. “With the cold, snow dust and ice edges were a big challenge, so you had to ride smart. I felt great Friday but slotted into 5th early in the race and rode it out. Saturday I had a great start and took the opportunity to take the lead about halfway through the race to get the win. Sunday I came back and took a 3rd place. Overall, a great three-day weekend!”

Kamm’s win helped vault him into 2nd place in Pro Open points.

Petter Narsa keeps knocking on the podium door, and Canterbury was no exception. Saturday night he came up one spot short, taking 4th place in a fast-paced final. Consistent riding has made him a factor in Pro Open class points where he sits in 5th place in a tight Top 5 battle.

“I got a decent start Saturday and worked my way up to 4th place,” said Narsa. “Overall it was a decent weekend. I’m looking forward to getting on the box at Deadwood.”

Next up for Hentges Racing is the U.S. Air Force Deadwood Snocross January 20-21 in Deadwood, South Dakota.
