Hentges Racing’s Kody Kamm Medals At Winter X Games

Shakopee, MN (January 29, 2018) – The 2018 Winter X Games event was held this past January 25-29 in Aspen, Colorado. Snocross has been a staple of the event since it debuted in 1998, but was put on hold at this year’s Winter X Games. However, the Winter X Games did have Snow BikeCross, an event that combines motocross and snocross. Seeing an opportunity in what was an off weekend for the team, Hentges Racing’s Kody Kamm got behind the bars of a snow bike to compete on the world stage in Snow BikeCross.

An accomplished motocross racer, Kamm took to the snow bike easily. He finished first in his seeding heat, then took 2nd place in heat racing, putting him in a good spot on the starting line for the medal round. A slow start slotted him into 4th place, but about five laps in he took over the 3rd spot, remaining there for the rest of the race and earning a bronze medal.

“The Snow BikeCross was an awesome event,” said Kamm. “We learned a lot about the bike in practice on Friday, and I made some gear changes to get myself more comfortable on the bike.

“Saturday I qualified 6th, which surprised me because I thought I did better than that, but there were some strong riders in the field.

“In the heat race I got the holeshot and took 2nd. In the main I didn’t get as good of a start and was in 4th place for a while before I made a pass for 3rd.

“Overall I’m pretty happy with the way things turned out. My team worked hard and we had a good time. A bronze medal at Winter X? We’ll take that!”
