First-of-its-kind snocross race pits rider vs. rider in single elimination format at AMSOIL Duluth National
Minneapolis – Nov. 22, 2011 – The AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series’ version of one-on-one, UFC-style tournament bracket battles, dubbed the “AMSOIL DOMINATOR®,” is just a few days away. The AMSOIL DOMINATOR® kicks off the 2011-‘12 ACSS tour Fri., Nov. 25, on Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minn.
A first-of-its-kind event, the $10,000 winner-take-all AMSOIL DOMINATOR® will feature head-to-head battles between 16 riders drawn from last year’s top eight Pro Open class racers, and an additional eight Pro Open racers selected during qualifying at Friday’s practice session on the famed Duluth course.
“What better way to see who’s ready for the start of the season than to let the top 16 riders in the world bang bars for a big wad of cash,” said Jeremy Meyer, Race Program Manager, AMSOIL INC. “The AMSOIL DOMINATOR® will certainly set the bar for an exciting season.”
Reigning Pro Open champ Tucker Hibbert (Arctic Cat) will be seeded first for Friday’s event. He will be followed by Polaris’ Ross Martin and Ski-Doo’s Tim Tremblay with the third seed.
Meyer explained that the idea for the AMSOIL DOMINATOR® came about when ISOC’s Carl Schubitzke and Doug Rust visited the AMSOIL headquarters in Superior, Wis., this past summer. The group sought to ramp up the action on Friday night for the thousands of fans milling about after practice/qualifying sessions, and so, the AMSOIL DOMINATOR® was born. Head-to-head, 2.5-lap, quick-hitting bracket racing with $10K going to the winner.
“ISOC approached all the OEMs and top race teams at HayDays and it was unanimous; all of them said ‘We’re in,’” said Meyer. “The widespread support from the industry is wonderful and we hope this will create buzz with race fans worldwide.”
The gate will drop at 6 p.m. on November 25 at Duluth’s Spirit Mountain on the first of 16 one-on-one Pro Open races – the last of which will decide the inaugural AMSOIL DOMINATOR® champion.
