12/14/14- St. Cloud, MN – Warnert Racing had another successful weekend in rounds 3&4 of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series. The Ski-Doo/NSK/Makita/GMC powered team went through their share of struggles but endured to come out on top.
On Friday night, John Stenberg went into the final with a 2nd in the first heat and 4th in the second heat. Stenberg was able to run a clean race and finish out in 8th. The track got rough and gnarly on Saturday. Temperatures in the mid-forties made for sticky snow conditions which affected everyone’s racing. With full heats of ten riders, Stenberg muscled through the heat races with 3-3 finishes going into the final.
Under the lights for the Pro Open final, Stenberg battled his way through the field to come out with a 6th spot. Again, Stenberg finished the highest of any of the rookies in the Pro Open class.
Elias Ishoel continued to set the pace in the Pro Lite class. On Friday night, Elias qualified straight to the final with 2-4 heat finishes. Unfortunately, he got tangled up in the early parts of the race. He rode hard and came out with an 8th place finish. The Makita Tools went to work Friday to get the sled tuned up for day two of racing. On Saturday, it was evident Ishoel had something to prove to his competitors. During his heat races, he finished 1-2 making him a top qualifier in the final race.
Ishoel found himself mid-pack and the start of the race. Throughout the course of the race, he picked off riders one by one. By the end, there was no question Ishoel would be the one to beat. Elias swept away the competition for a win in night two at the Fargo National.
