Princeton, Minn. February 2, 2015 – Trevor Leighton entered the weekend with a one point lead in the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Pro Lite class, briefly gave up the red plate on Friday and left the Black Hills of Deadwood, South Dakota back on top with an eight point advantage.
Leighton qualified well all weekend, never finishing out of the top three and used consistent, back-to-back fourth place finishes in Friday and Saturday’s main events to extend his lead in the championship chase. “I’m just really excited to move on to New York,” said Leighton. Hopefully we’ll get a win sometime soon, but all we’re really worried about right now is staying consistent, keeping that point lead and getting a championship.”
For rookie Pro Open competitor Corin Todd it was another solid weekend in which he attained his goal of finishing both main events in the top 10, punctuated by his first heat race win in the class. “I’m excited to get to New York, a home state race, and just continue to clean up on some things from this weekend,” said Todd. ” I don’t feel like I’ve really had a complete weekend yet, I had a little mishap in qualifying Saturday, which will happen on these small tracks. I really want to be in the top five at the end of a final. I think I can be a podium finisher and I’m just excited to get to the next race.”
Up next is the Seneca Allegany U.S. Air Force National, in Seneca, New York on February 6-7.
