Deadwood, South Dakota- February 2, 2015 — On the heels of Winter X Games, Team Jimmy John’s returned to the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series in Deadwood, South Dakota, January 31- February 1st. Snow has been sparse in this region, which made for a small, tight, chaotic track— a lot crashing and smashing ensued.
In a rare event, all three BOSS Pro athletes drew Heat 1 on Friday night. Colby Crapo and Darrin Mees made that cut, while Adam Renheim did not, due to a crash. In Heat 2 all three riders were once again in the same heat this time with Adam finishing 3rd, Colby 7th and Darrin dead last due to an epic off —which made for interesting photography. Due to the heavy damage sustained to his sled, Mees DNS’d for the LCQ. “We just couldn’t repair it
in time”. Colby went to the LCQ and had a poor start- leaving Adam as the sole BOSS rider to advance to Friday’s main- he finished a hard fought 6th, out of 16 sleds.
On Saturday, Adam Renheim flipped upside down in the LCQ and finished last— taking him out of the main. Colby Crapo had a rough go of things, and did not advance. Mees had a great qualifying run. He posted Saturday’s fastest lap, and qualified for the front row of the main. He tangled up in the first 100 feet- as everyone barreled into the corner- he was pushed out, and was not able to recover the lost ground, He finished 11th.
“It was a short 100 foot start- if you did not have a good start- you just were not going to make it, and we just did not have good starts. When you do make it into the mix- you’re just givin’ it, against 15 other guys who want it just as bad. You take risks-sometimes it works, sometime it doesn’t.” —Garry Querel
Saturday’s Pro- Am Women’s division was another story— Marica Renheim once again swept the weekend, going 1, 1, and 1. She is the Series’ definitive points leader, and drawing a lot of attention from media and fans. Her practice video has been making the rounds on social media and had 46,000 views in the past three days. Rounds 9 and 10 are up next- this weekend in Seneca, New York.
