Salamanca, New York. February 6, 2016 – The scenic hills of upstate New York were the backdrop for rounds nine and ten of the ISOC National Snocross tour. Warm temperatures and record-breaking crowds made for a great show which included Warnert racers John Stenberg and Elias Ishoel putting together some great finishes, including a main event win on Saturday.
FRIDAY Round 9
Friday night started out strong with Elias Ishoel taking a second and a first in Pro Lite qualifying. In the final, Ishoel got off to a mid-pack start, but came off the sled due to low visibility and nasty roost from the machines ahead of him. After re-mounting, he put down some impressive lap times and battled back to fourth place, but he paid the price for his aggressiveness and came off his sled once again, ending the night with an 11th place finish.
John Stenberg battling to a second place finish in heat one of Pro Open. In heat two, Stenberg was running great before coming off the sled in a rhythm section, forcing him into the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ). Stenberg performed well enough in the LCQ to qualify for the final, but had a tough race and ended up in 15th place.
SATURDAY Round 10
Ishoel kicked off a great day with a win in Pro Lite qualifying. In round two, he was again aggressively battling for the lead and had a bit of an “off-track excursion.” he remounted and bashed his way to third place. In the final, his aggressive, high-flying style paid off with a win, his fourth of the year.
Stenberg continues to mature and be a threat in the Pro Open class. He rode smooth and collected in qualifying to second and third place finishes. After a mid-pack start in the final, Stenberg made some high speed passes to finish a very respectable sixth.
