Lake Nebagamon, Wisc. – April 26, 2016 – Judnick Motorsports has added 2016 ACS Sport Champion Nick Lorenz to the Polaris, Axalta, Jack Link’s, AMSOIL team to contest the Pro Lite class in 2016-17. Lorenz, an eight-time winner last season will join 2016 Pro Lite runner-up Jake Angove in the class, giving the team a 1-2 punch that will be a formidable combination right from the start.
Judnick Motorsports has played a side role in Lorenz’s career for a number of seasons and with the Sport championship, felt the time was right to bring the seventeen year old from Kenosha, Wisconsin onto the team. A protege of team leader Ross Martin, Lorenz is an avid motocrosser who has already started his summer program training alongside Martin and Angove. “This is definitely a dream come true,” said Lorenz. I’ve known Ross for a long time and have been going with him to practice and giving each other a hard time since I was in the 14-15 class. I want to really focus on making every final next year, work on getting good starts and hopefully a couple of podiums and that first win.”
Also returning to the team, albeit in a new role, is Mike Bauer. Bauer was a standout Pro Lite rider for Judnick Motorsports before retiring in 2014 and has recently taken up the wrenches, tuning for Jake Scott last season at Jess Racing. Bauer will work directly with Lorenz this season, while Steve Angove will continue to hold down the mechanic chores for son Jake.
After capping an injury-plagued season with two wins in the final five races, Ross Martin is already back in the gym and on the bicycle as he prepares to go into the 2017 campaign at full strength and pick up where he left off at Lake Geneva. Tony Swiontek will return as Martin’s mechanic as both are awaiting a fresh start with one year under their belts on the restyled Polaris race sled which debuted last season.
