Team Woodies Duluth Recap

admin Recent Posts, Team Press

The Snocross season opener was a very exciting and busy weekend for team Woodies Racing. With a entirely new crew and a couple new riders and a brand new hauler, the team had their work cut out for them. Crew chief Mike Hass had his team working well as they have eight different racers they manage and bring to the line each weekend. Ryan Duncan had the sleds ripping and pulling a large majority of the hole shots.

Woodies Racing Pro open rider Justin Broberg made his team debut on Friday night in the Amsoil Dominator Cup. Broberg fell short in qualifying and did not make the eight sled field.

In round #1 of the series on Saturday Justin finished a third in round one of qualifying and fifth in round two, sending him to the LCQ where he finished third and making it into the Night show. Broberg started in the back row and dealt with nasty dirty snow roost and a field full of hungry pro racers looking for track position in the seasons first final, he would finish 11th and looking for another shot on Sunday.

On Sunday we woke to very heavy fog and the event promoters were forced to cancel the days racing. Justin and the team were disappointed as they were hopping for another shot at Spirit Mnt and a crack at the ISOC Pro open podium.

Tyler Adams showed some speed in the pro lite division as he won his first heat race and took second in the next, making him the #3 qualifier for the main. On the start of the final Tyler got tangled up in the first turn and that was pretty much the end of his day. Tyler was also bummed that Sunday was canceled as he wanted to get back out there and finish the weekend strong.

Pro Am Women rider Jenifer Martel looked good as she finished third in both her heat races and seventh in the main on Friday – Sunday classes canceled also.

SnoBike – Cody Thomsen had a great showing before his bike had motor failure. Cody rode his snobike to the #2 qualifier spot and blew his motor at the end of the second heat making it impossible for him to make the start of the final in the night show. Also Wes Selby on his Arctic Cat Snobike finished second and also second in pro am plus 30 class.

Sport rider Kaden Woodie had a good showing this weekend, winning a heat race and coming from the back row in the main and finishing eight on Friday. Saturday Kaden would end up in a 19 rider LCQ were he fell short and finished eighth coming back from dead last.

Taven Woodie raced in the Jr girls 9-13 class on Friday where she won both heat races and the final. And then on Saturday she ran with the boys in the Jr 10-13 class. Taven would be #1 qualifier going into the final and was involved in a pile up on lap one and finished 14th.

Sport lite riders Jordan Brinkman and Mitchell Gross struggled in their heats but put their heads down and charged forward as seat time will only help as the season continues.

We would like to thank our many great sponsors that help make this all happen each race weekend.
