This weekend, the AMSOIL Championship Snocross series returned to Deadwood, S.D., for the highly anticipated U.S. Air Force Snocross National. The historic Days of ’76 Rodeo Grounds, affectionately known as the “Bullring,” provided the perfect setting for two nights of high-octane racing on one of the most demanding tracks of the season.
Friday night delivered a triumphant storyline as five-time champion Elias Ishoel made his victorious return to Deadwood. Just a year after a crash at this very venue ended his season, Ishoel showcased his grit and determination with a commanding performance. However, Saturday proved that the Bullring is as unpredictable as it is iconic, with the tight, small track testing the riders’ precision and skill at every turn.
Harr Claims First AMSOIL Pro Win of the Season
Emil Harr rebounded from Friday night’s disappointment in spectacular fashion, taking the overall AMSOIL Pro win on Saturday in Deadwood. Harr, who was disqualified after a strong showing in Friday’s triple crown, put together a near-flawless performance on Saturday, winning two of the three rounds cleanly and riding a calculated fourth in the final round to secure his first overall win of the season. The victory allowed Harr to gain valuable ground on points leader Elias Ishoel in the championship standings.
Harr’s night was highlighted by a dominant victory in round one and an unforgettable ride in round two. After being bumped off his sled early, Harr put on a masterclass in navigating the tight Deadwood track, reminiscent of Tucker Hibbert’s legendary performance at the venue in 2015. Harr sliced through the field with ease to take the win, and with the track proving challenging for the rest of the competitors, his 1-1-4 score was more than enough to earn him the overall win.
“Overall, it was a good weekend,” said Harr. “I was consistent and had a good push all weekend. Yesterday was a mess with missing tech, but it happens, and overall, I am happy with the number one today.”
Harr’s teammate, Kody Kamm, had a consistent and strong night, notching two runner-up finishes and taking second overall. Oskar Norum overcame a tough Friday with steady results of 4-6-5 to secure third overall. Meanwhile, points leader Elias Ishoel had an up-and-down night, recovering from a rough second round that saw him finish 12th to win the third round and end the evening fourth overall with a 3-12-1 score.
Scheele Seizes Pro Lite Thriller
On a tight and unpredictable track like Deadwood, anything can happen—and it did on Saturday night in the Anderson’s Maple Syrup Pro Lite class. Points leader and defending champion Crayden Dillon tipped over in turn one and put himself out of contention for his fourth win of the season. That also opened the door for Anson Scheele to make his move to the top of the podium and the standings.
Starting fifth, Scheele wasted no time, taking the lead on the second lap and navigating lapped traffic, including Dillon, with precision. Scheele’s smooth and controlled ride earned him his first win of the season in dominating fashion and propelled him into a tie with Dillon atop the points standings.
“I had to get a clean start out there and found some space on the first lap,” said Scheele. “The confidence is going to be really high going to Valcourt, and it will be really fun getting to a nice, big track.”
Evan Christian overcame a few tense moments during the race to secure his first podium of the year with a solid second-place finish. Brandon Nelson also made his mark with an impressive performance, earning his first Pro Lite podium by crossing the line in third.
Sweep for Cottew in Bikeman Performance Pro AM Women
Defending champion Malene Cottew grabbed a fistful of throttle off the line, securing the holeshot and positioning herself at the front of the pack. Once out front, the points leader proved why she’s so tough to beat, riding to a weekend sweep and capturing her fourth win of the season.
Round three winner Inanna Hauger delivered a strong effort, following closely behind Cottew to finish second for the second consecutive night. Meanwhile, round one winner Victoria Dillon rounded out the podium in third, showcasing the depth of talent in the class.
Lieders Extends Winning Streak with Thomas Sno Sport Pro AM Plus 30 Victory
Give Andy Lieders the holeshot, and he won’t look back—a fact he proved once again on Saturday with a commanding performance in the Pro AM Plus 30 race. Lieders claimed his fifth straight win of the season, further cementing his championship stake and taking the points lead home with him.
Brian Peterson rebounded strongly from a challenging Friday final to claim a hard-fought second-place finish, while Tyler Ooman maintained his consistency with his fifth podium of the season in third. With their solid results, Peterson and Ooman are now tied for second in the championship standings.
