Snow and Subzero Temperatures Shape Dramatic Saturday in Ironwood
Ironwood, Mich. ~ Round two of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross, presented by Brunt Workwear, unfolded under brutal conditions Saturday night at Mt. Zion in Ironwood, Michigan, as temperatures dipped below zero and snow moved into the region. The extreme cold tightened the fast, technical circuit and put a premium on discipline and execution, challenging racers to manage both the track and their equipment after an intense opening night on Friday.
Friday’s program was defined by late-race heroics that upended expectations and set up a compelling storyline for round two: could those challengers back it up, or would the established favorites respond with authority and begin stacking weekend sweeps? As the finals played out, the answer varied by class, with some riders doubling down on momentum while others reclaimed control, reshaping the early championship outlook in the unforgiving Ironwood conditions.

Benham Battles the Elements to Claim AMSOIL Pro Final
Heavy snow dusted an already worn track Saturday night, creating a demanding reset for the AMSOIL Pro field and delivering an entirely new podium order in Ironwood. After a turbulent pair of heat races, the Pro class returned with a clean slate in the final, forced to adapt to deteriorating conditions that rewarded precision and composure.
Daniel Benham answered emphatically. Back aboard an Arctic Cat and riding with confidence, Benham capitalized on a strong start and slipped past holeshot winner Adam Peterson on the opening lap. From there, Benham was locked in, running clean, efficient lines and controlling the race from the front while managing the changing track. Ryley Bester mounted a late charge and closed the gap over the final two laps, but Benham held on to claim his first win of the season and his first victory since sweeping the Deadwood weekend two years ago, leaving Ironwood as the points leader.
“The start was honestly everything on this track and with the snow conditions that we have,” said Benham. “To be honest, we won this race back in the summer. It’s been a long journey to get to this point, and to get the win the first weekend means a lot.”
Bester settled for a hard-earned second, while Peterson fought off challenges from Gustav Sahlström and Crayden Dillon on the final lap to secure the third and final podium spot.

Cole Ironwood Sweep in Pro Lite
Cameron Cole took another decisive step in his rise through the Pro Lite ranks with a commanding performance Saturday night in the U.S. Air Force Pro Lite final at Ironwood. After closing his rookie season with a late surge that established him as a championship contender, Cole arrived at Mt. Zion intent on proving that momentum was no fluke.
Friday night required patience, as Cole worked relentlessly to get around Drew Freeland for the win. Saturday’s effort was far more efficient. Cole moved past early leader Kellen Chapuran in the opening laps and immediately set the pace, riding mistake-free from the front to secure the victory and complete the weekend sweep.
“Honestly, we just kind of went for it today,” said Cole. “Today was a little colder than yesterday and honestly when I don’t feel my hands I use the throttle more.”
Chapuran stayed within reach through the middle of the race before settling into second, earning his first podium of the season after opening the weekend with a solid fourth-place finish. Martin Johansson rounded out the podium, finding his rhythm early and holding third from start to finish to cap a strong rebound performance on Saturday night.

Hauger Holeshots to Bikeman Performance Pro AM Women Victory
Inanna Hauger made a strong statement Saturday night in the Bikeman Performance Pro AM Women final, rebounding from a difficult opening round to capitalize on valuable championship points. With Malene Cottew limited to starts only for the weekend, Hauger seized the opportunity, launching to the holeshot and controlling the race from the front to take the win.
“Yesterday was such a battle and I pushed through that,” said Hauger. “I just came into the day with a whole new mindset and put together some good laps.”
Victoria Dillon worked her way through traffic to earn her second podium finish of the Ironwood weekend in second. Naeli Lebel completed the podium in third, holding off Friday night winner Avery Hemmer in a close run to the line to secure her first podium of the season.

Peterson Prevails in Snowy Pro AM Plus 30 Ironwood Final
Heavy snowfall set the stage for a dramatic Thomas Sno Sports Pro AM Plus 30 final Saturday night in Ironwood. Corin Todd appeared on pace to complete a weekend sweep, but Brian Peterson stayed within striking distance and made a decisive inside move with two laps remaining, pulling away to claim his first victory of the season.
Despite his goggles icing over, Todd maintained pressure through the closing laps to finish second, a result that secured him the weekend points lead. Tyler Ooman capped a consistent Ironwood showing with a third-place finish, earning his second podium of the weekend after narrowly missing the win on Friday night.

Blazevic Holds Strong Under Pressure in Pirtek Sport Final
Brady Freeland launched off the line Saturday night looking to complete a weekend sweep in the Pirtek Sport final, but mechanical issues on lap three ended his run and removed him from contention. That opened the door for Justin Blazevic, who charged to the front and settled into the lead as the race developed.
Blazevic withstood relentless pressure from Sweden’s Olle Sahlström, with the pair crossing the line separated by just half a second to finish first and second. Kamden Duffy secured his first podium of the season in third, holding off new points leader Gustav Vesterlund in a tight run to the finish.

Hayes Handles the Pressure for First Sport Lite Win
Ryder Hayes rebounded Saturday night in the FlexToy Powersports Rental Sport Lite final, showing patience and persistence on his way to his first win of the season. Hayes grabbed the lead on the opening lap but traded the top spot back and forth with Lincoln Meyer before finding his rhythm and pulling clear as the race settled in.
Carter VanHorsigh continued his strong Ironwood weekend by doubling up on podium finishes, locking down second place. Meyer stayed in the fight throughout and completed the podium in third after keeping pace with the leaders.

Specialty Box & Crate Junior 14–15: Carter VanHorsigh rebounded from a near miss in the opening round by keeping his sled out front Saturday night to claim the victory in the Specialty Box & Crate Junior 14–15 final. After coming up short of his first win on Friday, VanHorsigh delivered a controlled performance to secure the win in Ironwood.
Friday night winner Ryder Hayes recovered from a poor start to charge through the field and finish second. Porter Jacklitch rounded out the podium, earning his first podium finish of the season.

Lakeland Powersports Junior Girls 9-13: The first race of the day produced the first weekend sweep of the season as Charlie Buteau went back-to-back in the Lakeland Powersports Junior Girls 9–13 final. Buteau secured the lead on the opening lap and controlled the race from the front to claim her second win of the Ironwood weekend.
Lila Hemmer followed with another consistent performance, locking down second place for her second podium of the event. Eva Gifford completed the podium for the second straight day, holding off a late challenge from Peyton Weisbrod to secure third.

Arctic FX Junior 10-13: The Arctic FX Junior 10–13 class opened its season Saturday with a tightly contested final in Ironwood. Logan Bruch controlled the early laps and looked on pace for the opening-round win, but Ryan Shimanski maintained pressure throughout before making the winning pass with two laps remaining to secure his second victory of the day.
The fight for the remaining podium spots stayed intense to the finish, as Tommy Roy worked past Bruch to claim second. Bruch settled for third after leading the early portion of the race in the season opener.

Anderson’s Maple Syrup Transition 9-13: Isaac Otto appeared poised to break through Saturday night in the Anderson’s Maple Syrup Transition 9–13 final, but Ryan Shimanski had other plans. After Otto led the opening five laps, Shimanski executed a decisive last-lap pass to secure the win and complete the weekend sweep in Ironwood.
Otto crossed the line seven-tenths of a second back in second, earning his second straight runner-up finish of the weekend. Tommy Roy rebounded from a near-podium effort Friday to lock down third place on Saturday night.

SPEEDWERX Transition 8-10: Saturday’s SPEEDWERX Transition 8–10 final delivered a new winner and two first-time podium finishers in Ironwood. Ely Archambault and Jake Archambault staged a tight sprint to the line, with Eli holding off Jake by eight-tenths of a second to secure the victory.
The win marked Eli Archambault’s first podium and first victory of the season, while Jake Archambault earned his second straight podium finish of the weekend. Friday night winner Noah Kuhn also celebrated on the podium after finishing third.

Rox Speed FX Stock 200: In the Rox Speed FX Stock 200 final, Tessa Naastad built on her opening-night podium with a strong win Saturday in the Stock 200 final. Starting third, Naastad worked her way to the front by lap three and pulled away to earn her first victory of the season.
The fight for second went to the final lap, where Vincenzo Dorio made a late pass on Friday night winner Landan Lynse to claim the runner-up spot, with Lynse finishing third.

ROX Speed FX CHAMP 120: Lincoln Skar and Deegan Giguere traded the lead throughout an intense ROX Speed FX Champ 120 final in Ironwood. Giguere controlled the early laps, but Skar mounted a late charge, taking over the lead with three laps remaining and setting an early tone for the championship fight.
Giguere stayed close to the finish to secure second, while Vincenzo Diorio delivered a strong drive, climbing from seventh on the grid to finish third and complete the podium.
