Lebel Headlines in Hometown for Momentum-Shifting Weekend in Valcourt

Feb 15, 2026

Valcourt, Quebec ~ With the season accelerating toward its midpoint, AMSOIL Championship Snocross presented by Brunt Workwear made its annual pilgrimage north for two days of Pro-only competition at the legendary Grand Prix de Valcourt in Quebec. Set in the hometown of Ski-Doo, the event blends world-class snocross with high-speed oval ice racing, delivering a uniquely Canadian celebration of winter and horsepower. The historic venue once again served as a pivotal battleground in the championship chase.

As the title fight tightens, the sport’s young guns continue to assert themselves at the front while proven veterans are finding rhythm at precisely the right time. A winning streak pushed forward, a long-awaited repeat victory was finally secured, and a hometown standout delivered a headline moment on opening day — setting the tone for a statement weekend in Valcourt.

Lebel Claims Hometown Triumph in Valcourt

Gustav Sahlsten’s rebound season continued to gain traction Saturday in Valcourt. After opening the year with a runner-up finish in Ironwood and stacking multiple podiums, Sahlsten again showed front-running pace by rocketing to the early lead with a hungry Pro field battling for position behind him. He controlled the race through the opening laps and continued his trend of laps led this season, but on lap seven points leader Jordan Lebel broke free from a tight pack, shifted to an alternate line, and found the speed and rhythm needed to take command.

Once out front, Lebel capitalized on clean air and methodically stretched his advantage, riding with precision and confidence to secure his third victory in the past four races — a signature win at his hometown Grand Prix de Valcourt.

“It feels great to be here tonight and get the win in front of all our fans and Ski-Doo,” said Lebel. “I just want to thank my whole team at Warnert Racing. They have put in a lot of effort this year and it’s been an awesome year so far and hopefully we can keep it going.”

Behind him, rookie Crayden Dillon continued his surge of consistency. After starting sixth, Dillon stayed within striking distance before moving past Sahlsten on lap eight to claim second and set his sights on the leader. Time ran out before he could mount a final challenge, but his runner-up finish marked a fourth consecutive podium.

Round Two winner Daniel Benham remained a fixture in the lead pack throughout the contest and secured the final podium position on lap 12, earning his second podium of the season.

Freeland Edges Cole for Valcourt Victory

Kenny Goike launched off the start with authority, hammering the throttle and grabbing the early lead as a stacked Pro Lite field searched for a way around on the opening lap. A slight push in a hard left-hander sent Goike wide and opened the door for points leader Cameron Cole, who quickly took control. Cole, dominant to start the season with three straight wins and four podiums, entered Valcourt looking to rebound after missing the box in the two Canterbury rounds. He appeared locked in on an early redemption run Saturday, building a steady advantage while navigating the demanding Valcourt circuit.

Drew Freeland, however, had other plans. Methodically closing the gap, Freeland tightened the margin by lap 12 before powering past Cole and immediately defending the lead with precise, efficient lines. He maintained composure through lapped traffic and held firm to the checkered flag, securing his first win of the season by just half a second. The victory marked a meaningful repeat in Valcourt, one year after Freeland earned his first career win at the historic event.

“Winning here is awesome,” said Freeland. “This is the best race of the year. Ski-Doo puts on a great event and they have such a great venue here. This is my favorite track of the year and I am super happy I could put it on top of the box tonight.”

Cole’s runner-up finish delivered his fifth podium of the season and preserved a 17-point advantage over Freeland heading into Sunday. Behind them, rookie Kenny Goike maintained his early pace and composure, fending off a late charge from Evan Christian to capture his first career podium with a hard-earned third-place finish.

Rookie Hemmer Extends Streak to Five Straight in Pro AM Women

The Bikeman Performance Pro AM Women final opened with Ava McCurdy firing off the line to claim the Studboy Holeshot, but it didn’t take long for the momentum of the race to shift. Inanna Hauger surged to the lead on the opening lap, positioning herself out front as championship points leader Avery Hemmer settled into stalking mode. Hemmer showed strong early pace, applying calculated pressure through the first three laps before making her move — slipping underneath Hauger and sprinting into clean air. Once clear, Hemmer was clinical, attacking the big rhythm sections with precision and stretching her advantage to secure her fifth consecutive victory and sixth overall win of the season.

“I got an awesome start, came out in third,” said Hemmer. “Then I just made some clean passes and had some fun.”

Round two winner Hauger once again proved her consistency in the championship fight. After relinquishing the lead, she held firm in the runner-up position to collect her sixth straight podium, keeping the points battle within reach as the season approaches its midpoint.

Behind her, Victoria Dillon continued a season-long trend of late-race charge. Starting seventh on Saturday, Dillon worked through traffic in the opening half before making a decisive mid-race pass on McCurdy. From there, she powered forward to claim third, marking her seventh podium in seven races and reinforcing her status as one of the most consistent threats in the class.
