Andrew Carlson to Make His TORC Pro-Lite Truck Debut

Elk River, Minnesota (August 27, 2014) – Andrew Carlson of Carlson Motorsports is ready to make his Pro-Lite Truck debut in The Off-Road Championship (TORC) Series this weekend in Crandon, Wisconsin. No stranger to high-level competition, Andrew has honed his racing skills in both professional snowmobile and UTV racing, where he has become an instant top-level racer, garnering a year-end championship in the Sport ranks and most recently a string of Pro class wins on the national snocross tour last winter.

The jump to Pro-Lite trucks in the TORC series is a perfect progression for Carlson, who for the past two-seasons has used professional UTV racing as a high-level training ground for his snocross career. Experiencing nearly instant success in that venue, and showing a natural talent for off-road racing, the move to Pro-Lite Trucks is well suited for the rising star.

The TORC series is regarded as one of the premiere short-track off-road racing series in North America, and touts some of the best off-road racers in the country. Drivers including Johnny Greaves, his son CJ Greaves, Scott Douglas, and Jeff Kincaid who all are considered household names in off-road racing circles, and are regular competitors in the TORC series. In addition, TORC has attracted high profile drivers such Indy Lite racer Arie Luyendyk Jr. and motorcycle builder and television star Jesse James.

“I instantly fell in love with closed course off-road racing,” said Carlson. “The tracks are high speed yet technical…you are constantly battling with other drivers, picking lines, and reading terrain at a high rate of speed. It has so many similarities to snocross racing in that regard. It will definitely sharpen my racing skills prior to the snocross season.”

The Crandon, Wisconsin race, dubbed Keys to the Big House, is August 30-31 and is the last race of the season for the TORC series. The series is also broadcast on NBC Sports Network and the final Crandon race will be broadcast September 6 at 3:30pm Eastern and 5:00pm Eastern.
