Team Jimmy John’s headed to the legendary Route 66 Raceway, Chicago’s home for Drag Racing, to compete in Rounds 11 and 12 of the AMSOIL Championship Circuit this weekend. The “Windy City” held true to its name, producing dangerous windchills and dropping temperatures to minus 30, lifting snow dust into the air and reducing visibility for athletes on Friday night. Chicago’s die-hard fans sheltered inside the historic facility’s luxury indoor viewing areas; a clear advantage to hosting a snocross event at one of the nation’s top ranked motorsport venues.
The team had moderate success in Friday’s heat race—Darrin Mees and Colby Crapo both advanced to the final, posting a 9th and 11th place respectively in a field of 15, while Adam uncharacteristically sat it out, after failing to qualify.
Temperatures improved on Saturday, and so did the crowds, as Marica Renheim took to the track for the Women’s Pro-Am Championship. She took a 3rd place finish in her first heat race, a 1st in her second heat- and finished 1st overall in the main event. She sits well on top in the national points
chase, with a 78 point lead on second place.
Meanwhile, her brother, Adam Renheim moved up another spot in Pro National points to 9th overall after posting a 5th place finish on Saturday night and Darrin Mees posted another 9th place overall.
Colby Crapo crashed hard while running 2nd in the LCQ, preventing him from qualifying for the main event. Tune in to CBS Sports March 8th and March 15th at 9AM and 11AM EST to watch delayed coverage.
The team has moved on to the Ram Truck Nationals at Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan for ACS Rounds 13 and 14 this weekend. Like BOSS Racing on Facebook for current information, or visit our website at www.teambossracing.com
