Saint Cloud, MN (2/25/2015) Warnert Racing spanned borders this past weekend racing at both the inaugural Hollywood Casino’s Snocross National in Chicago, Illinois and the historical Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt. In both locations, Warnert Racing found their way to the podium.
At the Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt, Danny Poirier and Donavon Asselin represented Warnert Racing, Ski-Doo, NSK, Makita Tools, and GMC. Both riders put on a show for the huge crowds that attended the race. Danny Poirier dominated each day of the Pro class and took the overall win. Asselin took 5th place.
“The competition was fast, but not fast enough to get around the NSK Ski-Doo of Danny Poirier,” noted crew member Ron Verly.
Warnert Racing hosted some of the top engineers from Ski-Doo and Makita Powertools supplied top of the line tools to help Danny and Donavon get the job done. In addition to Ski-Doo personnel, Warnert Racing had school children from Valcourt tour the trailer and get autographs from the riders.
About 1,000 miles away in Chicago, Warnert Racing took on the inaugural race at the Route 66 Raceway. On Friday night, John Stenberg was strong in qualifying. He took two 3rds and put himself up front right away in the Pro Final. He came out with one of is his best Pro Open finishes ever with a 6th spot. On Saturday, a mechanical issue during round 2 manifested and he missed out on the final.
Elias Ishoel had a rough Friday night but made up for it in a very big way on Saturday. Elias had two strong rounds of qualifying and went into the final with a 3rd and a 2nd. Ishoel was running in the top of the field during the last two laps when a mechanical issue took him out of the running. On Saturday, Ishoel found himself in the LCQ after two difficult qualifying rounds. Ishoel qualified for the final and started in the back row. Immediately in the first lap, Ishoel made his way into the top 7 and kept making progress from there. Elias raced hard and made his way to 2nd in the final.
Warnert Racing is heading to the Soaring Eagle’s Ram Trucks National starting Friday, February 27.
