Aurora, Minn. (November 28, 2016) AMSOIL/U.S. Air Force/Ford/Milwaukee riders Lincoln Lemieux and Tim Tremblay combined to take the top two spots in the season-opening round of Pro Open competition in the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series on Saturday night in Duluth, Minnesota.
It was Lemieux’s first career win in the premier class after having been close on a number of occasions in his short professional career. “My sled was rippin’ all day, even from the outside,” said Lemieux. I knew if I could get around the outside really fast I’d have a clear track and that’s what I did. I just tried to stay as smooth as possible but towards the end I was getting really tired. I had a hard crash on Tuesday so my right shoulder has been really sore, but I pulled it out. I knew Tim was right there but I just worked as hard as I could and ended up beating him.”
To have Tremblay complete the sweep of the top two positions was a bonus for the team, who puts in an incredible effort during the short run up to the season opener. “I worked my way up, I think from fourth or fifth ,and caught Lincoln,” said Tremblay. I was almost getting him but not enough to pass him clean. He rode good and I’m really happy with the race, the sleds where good.”
The week of the race, the team was full speed operating our Planet X practice facility and taking part in U.S. Air Force school visits. On Tuesday we awarded two Race to the Future scholarships to students at high schools in Virginia, Minnesota and Two Harbors, Minnesota.
The team will now regroup and clean up from the weekend in preparation for the upcoming series event in Winter Park, Colorado on December 16-17.
