For Immediate Release – Finley, ND (March 28, 2023) – Evan Christian and Evan Daudt teamed up for their best combined weekend in the past several rounds, with each scoring a top five finish at the Cannonsburg Ski Resort in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
It was a turnaround weekend for Christian, who has been plagued by bad luck throughout the middle part of season. On Friday, EC was undefeated in his qualifying rounds and was off to a quick start in the main event before getting turned over in the first corner. While this was another case of wrong place, wrong time, Christian was able to finish the race and maintain the positive shift in momentum going into Saturday.
After posting heat race finishes of 3-3, Christian was able to race his way forward throughout the round 14 class final to score a fifth place result.
Evan Daudt was equally impressive in Friday qualifying going 2-1 to set himself up with an early gate pick for the main event. Daudt cleared the treacherous 180 degree first turn without issue in third place and held the spot for the entire race to claim his fourth podium of the season.
On Saturday, Daudt collected another heat race win to go along with a seventh place in the final and retains fourth overall in the class championship with one weekend to go.
The 2023 season concludes on April 1-2, as the national tour makes its way to Dubuque, Iowa. This will be another wild ski hill venue as the event moves from the Dubuque County Fairgrounds back to the Sundown Mountain Ski Resort, which was the original host to the series starting back in 2017.
