May 13, 2014 – Fresh off a season in which the team captured its first Pro Lite championship with Corin Todd, Leighton Motorsports is charging forward with a lineup that will feature an expanded presence on the AMSOIL Championship Snocross tour.

The direction and focus of the team is 100% towards winning Championships over the next 10 plus years. Todd will be making the move to Pro Open where he will be a strong favorite for Rookie of the Year honors with a goal of consistently finishing in the top 10. Trevor Leighton and Zak Mason will make up the Pro Lite roster as they push to finish 1-2 in the class.

A personnel addition sure to have a significant impact is the hiring of former racer Robbie Malinoski as Team Manager. “ I had been thinking for a couple years of how I could get Robbie to be part of my team when he retired.” said team owner Trace Leighton. “With his professionalism on and off the track and his drive and dedication, I don’t know that there is a more experienced person, all around, in the industry than Robbie.

“In his new role, Robbie will be a jack of all trades in the fact he will work on sleds during the week, be at the practice track daily with the riders, serve as their personal trainer, assist me in sponsor activities and on race days he will be tuning sleds with the mechanics and working with the racers on track conditions and strategies.”

Further strengthening the team’s position is a new alliance with Hentges Racing to utilize Tim Bender built sleds and components. “We are really excited about our joint venture with Hentges Racing.” said Leighton. “Robbie and our head mechanic, Josh Swieton, will be working very closely with Tim Bender and Sean Ray, building Corin’s mod sleds and also with the tuning and testing of the Pro Lite sleds. This is a huge deal to us as we instantly get the knowledge that Tim and the rest of the Hentges team has been developing for years.”

Rob Mason will return as son Zak’s mechanic. “With Rob comes another great amount of racing knowledge that blends so well with the team and his girlfriend Betsy will be back as the team Chef!”

Timi Leighton returns to the team on a full-time basis, after serving the past two seasons as Miss ISOC. She will work as the Marketing Coordinator and oversee social media content.
