KC MOTORSPORTS YOUNG GUNS BEGIN 2014 SEASON WITH A BANG

KC Motorsports has started the snocross season with a bang, debuting at the 2014 Amsoil Championship Snocross Duluth National this past weekend. Pro Lite rookie, Travis Kern, proved that making the jump to the Pro Lite class was definitely the right decision. Although he was fighting a sore throat and fever, Travis surprised the competition in Round 1 Saturday night, rippin the holeshot and finishing the heat in 2nd. The #201 Arctic Cat powered through Round 2 securing another 2nd and a front row spot in the Final. Kern rocketed off of the start of his first Pro Lite Final, holding the top spot for the first 6 laps, before eventually finishing third behind Elias Ishoel and Jake Angove. The rookie stated that, despite his illness, he wanted to make his presence known on the track, for his new team and for his sponsors. Securing that 3rd place spot on the podium did just that. Team owners Rod Kern and Karl Christian were highly impressed with Travis’ performance.  Sunday’s Pro Lite rounds found Kern in 3rd after Round 1 and 5th after Round 2. After getting pinched off the start in Sunday’s Final, Kern avoided a pileup, settling into the 8th position and eventually finishing 7th. Overall, it was a great start for the rookie on the #201 KC Motorsports Arctic Cat sled. “I had hoped to finish in the top ten, coming into my first Pro Lite weekend and I’m happy to have reached that goal. My crew did a great job with my sled and getting me amazing hole shots. I have a great team and sponsors.” stated Kern. After 2 rounds of racing, Travis Kern is currently slotted 5th in Pro Lite points for the 2014-15 season.

Jr. Novice 10-13 young gun, Evan Christian, looked strong aboard his characteristic #333 white Arctic Cat. Evan raced Saturday, securing a 3rd in Round 1 and charging to another 3rd place finish in Round 2, qualifying for the front row in the Jr. Novice 10-13 Final. Christian had a crazy good holeshot, powering up the hill in the Final, but lost ground at the uphill dogleg and emerged from the downhill in 5th, maintaining that position until the checkers flew. Evan stated, “I’m happy to finish here in the top five. I’m lucky to have a great team and support from my sponsors and family.”

Next up, KC Motorsports will be racing at the ISOC MN Regionals at Quadna Mountain Park at Hill City, MN on Dec. 6th and 7th and at the Amsoil Championship Snocross Fargo National near Glyndon, MN on Dec. 12th and 13th.
