St. Cloud,MN (02/03/2015) With high temperatures and a short track, the Deadwood Snocross Shootout was nothing short of exciting. The hairpin turns and deep rhythm sections gave no mercy. Warnert Racing’s Pro Open rider, John Stenberg, and Pro Lite rider, Elias Ishoel, found a way to tame the track and come out of Deadwood with wins under their belts.

On Friday, temperatures reached into the upper 40’s which resulted for sticky snow that impaired the rider’s vision. The key at this tiny track was to get out front and get out front fast. Elias Ishoel made an exclamation point on his starts and dominated qualifying. He came into the final top qualifier after winning both rounds of his heat races. Off the start, Ishoel’s Makita, GMC, NSK powered Ski-Doo slotted into the top five. Throughout the race, he managed to keep passing sleds until it was between him and Christian Brother’s rider Tyler Adams. With two laps to go, Ishoel found the extra speed he needed to get by Adams to take the win. By taking the win he took over the points lead from Trevor Leighton.

John Stenberg had a couple tough breaks in the qualifying rounds and found himself in the LCQ on Friday night. He easily won the LCQ and advanced as the 11th qualifier in the final. Finding himself in an advantageous spot in the back row inside, Stenberg launched into the top ten right away and never looked back . He finished out his Friday in the 7th spot.

The weather turned cooler and snowy on Saturday which made conditions different once again. John Stenberg took the stadium by storm in his second round of qualifying. Stenberg powered out to the front of the pack and put a huge gap between him and second place. Through the tight turns and tricky rhythm sections, Stenberg took his first Pro Open heat race win. During the final race, he got tangled up with other riders and ended up 12th.

Elias Ishoel had a couple difficult qualifying rounds and had to race the LCQ to make it to the final. Ishoel qualified for the final and started from the back row. Elias rode patiently through the duration of the race and finished his night in 7th place.

The team is on their way to New York for the Seneca Allegany’s U.S. Airforce National this weekend, February 6-7.

Points after Round 8:

Pro Open- John Stenberg 7th

Pro Lite- Elias Ishoel 2nd
