Zimmerman Minn. – March 22, 2016 – The three day AMSOIL Championship Snocross season finale in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin is a fan and racer favorite that often sets the tone for the following season.
For Corin Todd, the weekend started with a pair of strong qualifying runs including a win and a top three. At the start of Friday’s main event, Todd was among the front-runners as the field crested and descended the massive ski hill that leads into one of the most unique courses on the tour. Unfortunately, as the leaders entered the first hard right hand corner, Todd was hit from behind, pushing him into the another rider as both rolled over and had to watch the field race by.
Todd charged from well behind the last rider on the course and was able to advance to 11th at the finish. On Saturday and Sunday, Todd was able to improve his finishes coming home eighth and tenth respectively and leaves the season optimistic about the progress he and the team have made.
“We held on for sixth in points and going into the summer I’m looking forward to really working hard,” said Todd. Everything looks good for next year, I feel pretty good and I’m healthy which is the most important part.”
Trevor Leighton was back with the team for the season finale and is looking forward to getting started on his road to recovery from a back injury sustained in New York. “I go see my doctor again on Friday, I’m wearing a brace right now so hopefully that can come off this week,” said Leighton. Hopefully I’ll be able to start training again in May, I can get on a road bike now on a stationary stand so I’m going to start that next week.”
