Hentges Racing Launches Snocross Season At Shortened Duluth National

The Duluth National snocross kicked off the 2016-2017 racing season this past weekend at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minnesota. For Hentges Racing, it marked the first of 17-rounds the team will compete at this season. Veteran Pro Open team riders Kody Kamm and Petter Narsa got the action rolling when they hit the track for a non-points prize money event on Friday night. Both riders got knocked out early, leaving them to regroup for Saturday’s Pro Open points racing.

Kamm had limited seat time headed into the Duluth race, but was able to post a win and a second place in heat racing earning a spot in the evening final. He worked his way as high as 4th place in the final where he eventually finished 5th.

“We had a ton of speed,” said Kamm. “I did the best I could with only two days of practice before the event. I felt great on the sled and I’m looking forward to getting more seat time before the next race.”

Narsa ended up with his sled tipped on its side in his first heat, but he came back to win his second heat. However, that stumble in the first heat forced him to earn his transfer spot to the final in the LCQ, which meant a back row starting spot. While a back row start in the final is never good, Narsa capitalized on it.

“I had to start from the back row in the final but I made up a few spots right away to get closer to the front,” said Narsa. “I was able to work my way up to 7th place. Overall I’m pretty happy with the weekend and feeling strong headed into the next event in Colorado.”

Sunday’s event was cancelled due to heavy fog. Racers met with race officials and both parties deemed the limited visibility made it unsafe for racing. There has been no word on when Round 2 will take place.

After one round Kamm sits in 3rd place in Pro Open points, Narsa holds the 8th place spot.

Next up for Hentges Racing is the Country Cat Snocross National at Colorado Adventure Park in Winter Park, Colorado, December 16-17.
