Carlson Moto Looks to Take Another Step in Building a Championship Formula with Consistent Performances from the Empire State

Elk River, Minn. February 8, 2017 – Consistency is perhaps the most elusive component facing competitors on the International Series of Champions (ISOC) AMSOIL Championship Snocross tour. Yet the Carlson Moto Pro-Open tandem of Andrew Carlson and Ryan Springer proved to have the right combination of skill, set-up and stamina for consistent performances in Salamanca, New York this past weekend.

Both riders exhibited solid qualifying efforts on the weekend. Andrew pulled an “out-of-the-cannon” holeshot Friday evening as he squared off against the top three Pro Open points leaders of Tucker Hibbert, Kody Kamm and Tim Tremblay. Springer followed up Carlson’s performance on Saturday evening with more holeshot prowess and a commanding heat win backed up by a third place finish in the second heat.

“Our equipment is top-notch right now,” said team master mechanic Jayme Cheyne when asked about the consistent starting line performance from both riders. “The guys (Andrew and Ryan) are super-focused on getting faster every time they hit the track and our starts continue to improve. We’re only having to make micro adjustments to the suspension and that has us feeling really good about the second half of the season.”

The strong starts continued for Carlson Moto in the main events where Friday evening Springer bolted from the line and was cemented in a battle for the podium mix until he was “cleaned-out” by another rider. While unharmed, the tangle ended Ryan’s chances for a strong finish. As Ryan collected himself, Andrew ran a clean and consistent race, avoiding the carnage and posting a respectable eighth place finish. Springer clawed his way back to tenth.

Saturday evening found both riders on the front row of the Pro-Open final for the first time this season, another testament to the team’s consistency. Once again Springer pulled a strong start and found himself in a heated contest amongst the front runners and sticking there for a fifth place finish. Further back in the field, Carlson again showed consistent speed and smart line choices in avoiding several trouble spots and completing the main event with another top-ten finish.

While the weekend podium proved elusive, the consistent performance by both riders had team owner Chris Carlson grinning with satisfaction. “No questions our boys have the speed to get on the box,” said Carlson. “Our goal is to continually improve throughout the season and throughout the weekend, and we’re doing that! I’m proud of the progress the entire team has shown and I’m really excited to see what happens over the next few rounds.”
