Lincoln Lemieux had a banner weekend at the Dubuque, Iowa ISOC race, winning the premier Pro Open class on Friday night and finishing third on Saturday. Aki Pihlaja, Kurt Bauerly, Hunter Patenaude, Camryn Anderson and Jordan Lebel joined him as winners over the past two ISOC Snocross National Championship Series weekends, where good racing was held despite challenges from Mother Nature.
Lemieux has really established himself as a top tier Pro rider this season with two wins and several podiums, some despite a shoulder separation that would slow many racers. His performance in Iowa was outstanding as he led from flag to flag on Friday then avoided a first lap melee on Saturday to eventually finish third. His teammate and current points leader Tim Tremblay rode hard from a terrible starting position on Friday to finish just off the podium in fourth, but Saturday wasn’t as fortunate and was involved in the first lap pile up. Tremblay got going eventually to salvage a seventh place finish and heads into the season finale at Lake Geneva with a 28 point lead in the championship fight. Adam Renheim hit the podium with a third on Friday and followed up with a sixth on Saturday.
In Pro Lite action Aki Pihlaja was looking to make a statement with a third place finish on Friday night and a big win on Saturday. His 56 point lead in the season championship contest will be tough to overcome for his closest pursuers, but 90 points are on the line for the final weekend. Pihlaja’s consistent podium finishes have been incredible as he gives no room to his competition for errors or bad races.
In Pro-Am +30 Kurt Bauerly answered the challenge of younger brother Paul by taking twowins in the past two weeks while extending his championship points lead also. Good thing the two brothers get along so well!
Hunter Patenaude and Camryn Anderson have both been strong contenders in the National Sport class as both have wins and top finishes coming into the season’s final race. Patenaude has a 75-point lead in the season points championship while Anderson is 24 points out of second.
