Shakopee, Minn. (March 10, 2014) –The competition got the best of the podium this weekend at the U.S. Air Force Snocross in Fargo, N.D., during rounds 13 and 14 of 2013-14’ AMSOIL Championship Snocross. With two of the most reliable racers in the pro ranks and consistent results, Polaris/Pirtek/FXR Racing riders Kody Kamm and Justin Broberg fell short of the podium. Yet, this season will highlight as one of the most victorious seasons in Hentges Racing history – including, of course X Games Silver and Bronze Snocross medals.
Broberg went through a near perfect day of qualifying on Friday, one of his best all season, placing second and then first. He would qualify in third place on the front row for Friday’s main event. Kamm performing in the top like usual would place second in each qualifying heat.
Race day did not continue on to be as flawless as started for the Hentges teammates. Piling up and colliding into each other in the first turn chaos was the beginning to an end of how both main events would shape out. With damage to his snowmobile, Broberg would manage to place 14th out of a 15-rider field in the opening final. Kamm would charge through the field into a 6th place final position.
Qualifying on Saturday did not go any better for Broberg; placing third and fifth respectively in rounds one and two. Kamm once again riding strong went two-two in both rounds. With the main event playing out similar to the night before, Hentges Racing would again not take a spot on top of the podium.
“The starts were crazy. This track is wide-open off the line. Both days I got into the chain reaction crashes off the start and so did Kody. It took some time [in the final on Saturday] and I had to ride hard to make my way up into that sixth place finish,” said Broberg.
Chasing down the current point leader and prospective Pro Open champion Tucker Hibbert, Kamm continues to stay in second place in the point standings. With only his hometown race remaining in the 2014 season, Kamm is hoping to put on a good show for the fans in Lake Geneva Wisconsin.
“Coming into my hometown race and running second for the championship is really cool. I am hoping I can stay on the podium the next few races and save that number two spot,” said Kamm.
Broberg is 36 points away from moving up into the top three. He is still fifth place in the standings even after a mediocre weekend.
