Fertile, MN (February 25, 2016) – Sharp-eyed Christian Brothers Racing fans may have noticed Dave Joanis (Royal Distributing/ArcticCat) was a DNS in the LCQ at the last snocross event in Salamanca, New York.  Joanis, who was injured on Friday,  was forced to make the decision to stop racing because of pain. With a two-week break before the race in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, February 26-27, Joanis was hoping to heal up, be back on his game and ride out the last three events of the season. However, Joanis has a torn PCL ligament in his knee which has led the Cochrane, Ontario, native to announce he is sitting out the remainder of the snocross season.

“I hurt my leg Friday in New York, then I tried to come back and race Saturday,” said Joanis. “It hurt too much and I couldn’t keep the pace I needed to be competitive. It’s going to need more healing time and I have to look at the future and come back next season stronger.”

Filling in for Joanis is a former Christian Brothers Racing pro rider and, most recently, pro cross-country racer, Matt Piche. Piche has been a top snowmobile racer for years, and most recently stood on the podium at a USXC cross-country race when he took second in Pro 600 at the Seven Clans 300 in 2015. Piche will pilot the No. 51 Royal Distributing/Arctic Cat sled to close out the season alongside CBR rider Logan Christian (DOC 360/Arcticwear/Arctic Cat).

Next up for Christian Brothers Racing is the Ram Trucks Snocross National in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, February 26-27.
