Joliet, Illinois. March 7, 2016 – Warnert Racings Elias Ishoel continued his domination of the Pro Lite class with his fifth straight win at the Joliet Illinois ISOC National at Route 66 Raceway this weekend. The track at Route 66 raceway has a stadium like setting with grandstands surrounding the track to give spectators views from every angle. The ISOC crew designed an extremely technical track, which combined with mildly warm temperatures made a challenge for drivers and crew alike. Elias Ishoel continues to show he’s the man to beat in the Pro-Lite class winning most of time he hits the track. Meanwhile John Stenberg continues to tough it out and turn in consistent finishes despite nagging injuries.
FRIDAY ROUND 11
Friday, Elias Ishoel’s patience and persistence paid off, taking home two wins in qualifying. In the final Ishoel got out to a good start, but received a warning flag for passing under yellow forcing him back two positions. Ishoel rebounded and made a pass for the lead with a lap to go, bringing the crowd to a roar.
In Pro Open John Stenberg struggled in qualifying with a third and a seventh having to qualify through the LCQ. In the final Stenberg maintained a solid pace to move up and finish in tenth place.
SATURDAY ROUND 12
Saturday in Pro- Lite qualifying Ishoel looked strong, but fell victim to a freak accident in round one finishing 7th. Round two, Ishoel sprung out to an early lead and crossed the finish line seven seconds ahead of the pack, moving him directly to the front row for the final. In the final, Ishoel performed like a seasoned veteran showing newly found patience and some finesse by using lapped traffic to his advantage and overtook the lead with two laps to go. From there he cruised to a well-earned victory.
