Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. March 21, 2016 – After a week break in the ISOC National series both John Stenberg and Elias Ishoel put on great performances for the last race of year in the United States. Ishoel continued his winning ways going undefeated on the weekend including two main event wins. John Stenberg struggled Friday and Saturday, but rebounded with a strong ride Sunday to finish fifth.
The Lake Geneva track is the favorite among racers because of the natural elevation changes, big bumps and warm weather, however this year it had a new feature; the addition of a “joker” lane or a short cut, which Pro Open riders were allowed to take one lap during the finals. The change added some extra drama and strategy to the weekend.
FRIDAY
In Pro Open John Stenberg had some difficulties in qualifying taking a fifth and a DNF after a major engine failure. Due to a modified schedule, the engine swap could not be completed before the start of the LCQ ending Stenberg’s night.
SATURDAY
Elias Ishoel rode like he was shot out of a canon on day one taking holeshots in both heats and cruising to race wins. The final kicked off with a top five start, and Ishoel rode patiently before launching down one of Lake Geneva’s huge hills, taking the lead and eventually the win.
John Stenberg rode consistent in pro Open qualifying to take a pair of fifths moving him into the LCQ and eventually on to the final. In the final, Stenberg rode to a 14th place after taking on water from the slushy conditions.
SUNDAY
Sunday was an early morning as the first round of Pro Lite was at 8:30am. However that didn’t slow down the young Norwegian Elias Ishoel, once again riding to heat race wins in steady form. The final kicked off with a great start and Ishoel rode hard to take the lead with two laps to go and finishing with the win. Ishoel made it a clean sweep of the weekend, winning every race he entered and usually by a comfortable margin.
In Pro Open John Stenberg rebounded from a rough start to the weekend, qualifying for the final via the LCQ. In the final Stenberg rode hard to a fifth place finish, matching his season best effort.
Friday Final | Saturday Final | Sunday Final | Final Points Standings
Elias Ishoel #200 | 1st | 1st | 3rd
John Stenberg #259 | DNQ | 14th | 5th | 8th |
Both riders capped off the ISOC national tour on a high note, and look forward to competing in the Clash of Nations in Falun Sweden April 1- 2. Warnert Racing would like to thank all of our fans and sponsors for the outstanding season. Stay tuned in the coming months for announcements about next year.
