Mailloux Racing Snocross race team kicked off his 7th season this past weekend, November 25-26, at the 25th Amsoil Duluth National, 1st round of the ISOC Amsoil Championship Snocross. Perched on the ski hills of Spirit Mountain, in Duluth, Minnesota, next to Lake Superior, this year track was the longest ever, composed of uphill and downhill sections.
The Pro AM+30 class was on the schedule on Friday, and Martin Mailloux, Ski-Doo rider #880, was excited to race for the first time in Duluth. After a 8th and a 6th place in his qualifying rounds, Martin ended up 11th in the final. Saturday was the 2nd round of the Championship in the Pro Am+30 class. The track was different from the day before, and Martin felt very comfortable on it. Our #880 rider came out strong with a 4th and a 7th place in his two qualifying heats. Martin finished up his weekend with a 12th in the final.
Nathan Mailloux had to wait until the Saturday to start his season, and he was looking forward to race in Duluth. Two classes are on his schedule in this ISOC Championship, the Transition 8-12 class, and the Junior 10-13 class. After a bad start in Junior 10-13 heat 1, Nathan made his way back up to 3rd at the checkered, and while running 3rd in his heat 2, Nathan came off his sled and finished 9th. In Transition 8-12, our Ski-Doo rider #111 started the season off strong with a 1st place finish in round 1. In the 2nd round, after taking an early lead, Nathan lost control of his Ski-Doo #111 in the downhill rhythm section, and take a big hit coming off his sled. He was taking care by the new on-track medical team, and found to have suffered a concussion. Nathan was not cleared to race for the rest of the weekend, and unfortunately could not show his potential in the finals. Nathan is doing better now, and will come back stronger for his next race weekend.
