Shakopee, MN (January 24, 2017) – They call it “unseasonable,” but the balmy temperatures that greeted Hentges Racing at the U.S. Air Force Deadwood Snocross in Deadwood, South Dakota, this past January 20-21, ended up as a perfect recipe for the team to land on the podium. And, for the second event in a row, it was Hentges rider Kody Kamm who claimed the second step on the box. Kamm was backed up by teammate Petter Narsa, with both riders setting the pace of the field most of the weekend.
Set within the rodeo grounds in downtown Deadwood, the snocross track was the smallest and roughest the riders will likely see this season. Starts were key, and finding space to operate was next to impossible, but tight racing is where Kamm shines. Kamm sailed through heats Friday, taking two wins on his way to a second place finish in the final, a mighty feat considering where he started the race in 12th place.
“Friday was a lot of fun coming from 12th to 2nd,” said Kamm. “Sunday was going good too until I got caught in the pileup off the start. I really enjoyed racing at Deadwood this year, so much fun.”
Narsa took a heat win on his way to the final Friday, but a bad starting spot kept him back in the pack. Saturday went much better – Narsa landed a prime gate pick and was looking to take control of the final before an incident stopped his run in its tracks.
“I was way outside on the starting line Friday and got a bad start,” said Narsa. “Saturday I got a Top 5 pick and lined up on the inside, but there was a pileup off the start and I got caught up in it. Great weekend, I felt strong and my Polaris is working great. Looking forward to New York.”
Next up for Hentges Racing is the ESPN Winter X Games, January 26th, in Aspen CO.
