Finley, ND (March 7, 2017) – Jay Lura nearly had a win in the Sport class final on Friday night but it was snatched away in the closing laps by a treacherous race course that claimed more than it’s share of victims during the weekend. Lura would get redemption on Saturday night finishing on the podium in second place after another hard fought battle.

The inaugural race in Dubuque, Iowa was held on a scenic ski hill overlooking miles of rolling farmland along the Mississippi River valley. Despite it’s beauty, the course was super fast and technical demanding that riders, of all ski levels, were on their A game throughout the two days of racing.

Evan Christian started his weekend going 6-2 in his Sport Lite heats but had a tough time in the final where he finished 15th. Christian had better success on Saturday in the Junior classes finishing fifth in 14-15 and sixth in 16-17.

James Johnstad just missed the final transfer out of the last chance qualifier on Friday but came back swinging with a win in the LCQ on Saturday and finished 13th in the main event.

The team will have one open weekend before wrapping up the season on the big hills at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Christian remains locked in tight points battles in both of his Junior classes, while Lura still has an opportunity to race his way upward from the sixth spot in Sport.
