The cold has come and for many regions have seen their first dusting. For sled heads, this only means one thing: the 2024 to 2025 AMSOIL Championship Snocross National Tour kicks the season off on December 13-14, 2024, at Mt. Zion Ski Hill in Ironwood, Michigan.
Get ready for a winter getaway full of fun activities the whole family can enjoy, including free ice skating and snow tubing with regular paid admission. Vendors and ornament decorating will also be available throughout the event if you want to capture the holiday spirit. The AMSOIL Coloring Zone ornament and poster decorating will be open during Snocross event hours.
Ice skating will be open on Friday, December 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 14, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Pat O’Donnell Civic Center across the street from Mt. Zion Ski Hill. The downhill Mt. Zion Snow Tubing fun will occur during the same time windows but depends on weather conditions and if enough snow is available.
As for the weekend racing events, the world’s top Snocross athletes will compete in a series of races across several different classes on the challenging elevation-charged track at Mt. Zion. The high-octane action kicks off on Friday, December 13, with the AMSOIL Dominator head-to-head competition for Pro and Pro-Lite class racers, where the winner takes home a custom trophy and a check for $10,000.
Thanks to increasing support from local businesses, this yearly Snocross event is turning into a festival of tradition for fans. Gogebic College, Travel Ironwood, and the entire local Ironwood community deserve a big shout-out for all their support in helping make this year so special.

Although a full schedule of activities are posted on the event page, the festivities will begin on Thursday, December 12th at for an Ironwood Welcome Party at Ironwood Town Square from 5-8 PM that will feature s’mores and a racer meet & greet from 6 PM – 7 PM. Then, the thrills continue on Saturday, December 14, including an AMSOIL Championship Snocross Pro Autograph Session from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., where you can get your favorite posters and photos signed.
As for admission, all kids 12 and under get in for free! Everyone else can save ten bucks on admission by purchasing tickets in advance. Tickets go on sale on November 1, 2024. Mt. Zion Ski Hill is Located on the campus of Gogebic Community College. Open to the public, the Mt. Zion complex also serves as a laboratory for the college’s nationally recognized Ski Area Management Program. Mt. Zion is well-known for its numerous “Learn to Ski and Snowboard Programs” for children and its exciting snow-tubing park.
