Tim Tremblay did everything necessary to capture his first AMSOIL Pro Open final of the season, but it was a mechanical issue that slowed the Warnert Racing/Foremost Insurance/ Ski-Doo pilot as Ross Martin capitalized to win the Hayward Powersports/Polaris National.
Tim Tremblay has been the fastest man on the track recently, but cannot buy a positive break.
With time running out on the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series chase, Martin not only won the event, but also was top qualifier; gaining valuable points on third place Tucker Hibbert.
Robbie Malinoski grabbed the StudBoy Holeshot Award but it was Martin, Tremblay and Johan Lidman racing to the front in the opening laps. The battle continued this way until well past halfway when Tremblay made a move to the front. Farther back Hibbert was working through the pack, passing Dan Ebert, Robbie Malinoski and Lidman.
With two laps to go Tremblay and Martin bumped on the backstretch and it became apparent the number 11 sled was slowing. Martin moved on to secure the win and a visibly dejected Tremblay limped his machine to the finish ahead of a charging Hibbert. Lidman held on for fourth ahead of Malinoski, capping a very successful weekend for the Carlson Racing/Sportech team.
Bauer Stays Hot In Semi-Pro
Judnick Motorsports Semi-Pro Mike Bauer made it a team sweep in Hayward.
Mike Bauer improved on his second-place finish of Semi-Pro day one by winning Sunday’s event in exciting fashion. Andrew Carlson led the opening laps of the race and was in position for his first Air Force Semi-Pro podium. Over halfway through he continued to hold off series point leader Cody Thomsen and an on slot of challengers. Thomsen then made a rare mistake dropping several spots allowing Kyle Pallin and Kody Kamm to close in. Bauer checked out with his sights on the win, while Carlson, Pallin and Kamm slugged it out. With less than a lap to go, Kamm snuck by both Pallin and Carlson to earn the number two spot on the box. The Cats of Pallin and Carlson traded paint in the last turn and down the homestretch, with Pallin edging out the rookie Semi-Pro for third.
Carly Davis finally sealed the deal for the Christian Bros. team winning Pro-Am Women
Carly Davis topped Jennifer Pare and J.C. Hupe in a highly competitive Loctite Pro-Am Women’s class. The event featured one of the largest turnouts of gal racers in recent history, with 10 riders taking part.
It’s now on to Elko Speedway in Minnesota for the Air Force National as the points have once again been scrambled and every turn on the track counts towards the season championships.
