Take a look at  Great Lakes Snocross in Illinois. By Dennis Whiton

Wauconda, IL – ISOC Affiliate Great Lakes Region Snocross (GLX) continues to develop new and innovative ways to generate buzz and encourage new youthful participation in this great sport of snocross. Last season we rolled out a new 120 class for new riders that will continue again this season.

Additionally GLX plans to continue its support of the Pink Ribbon Riders program.

Pink Ribbon Riders© (PRR) provides financial assistance to both men and women diagnosed with breast cancer, and is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit all volunteer organization like GLX.  “we are happy to continue our relationship with PRR” said Mike Malueg, President of Great Lakes Snocross, “we are both not-for-profit organizations within the snowmobiling community and we are happy we can continue to help raise funds for people in need”

What to look forward to in 2013-2014 at GLX

  • Changes in Scoring:   This season only the top 6 of 8 events will be counted towards ISOC Showdown in Lake Geneva, while the top 7 of 9 events will be counted towards the GLX Championship.  “Providing our racers with an opportunity to compete at the national level while still having the opportunity to race for a championship at the regional level is important to our growth and retention of valued racers”, said Mike Malueg, President of GLX
  • Additionally GLX has added Live Scoring to give our racers the ability to see their lap times and results in real time
  • BACK FOR 2013-2014 – FREE REGISTRATION –  120 Box Stock 4-12 class.  This class will be for new riders who want the opportunity to experience snocross without the big price tag. This class will not require membership in our club, or transponders. Proper Safety equipment will be necessary.
  • New  Weekly  ATV & Vintage Races.   For the first time GLX will be offering  the opportunity to race ATV’s and Vintage snowmobiles on our track on a limited schedule to add some fun to the race day.  Specific safety rules and classes are being developed, but we believe this will be just another opportunity for people to try out snocross in a new and innovative way.
  •  980 Tracks to build at GLX.  We are very excited to announce that Jake   from 980 Tracks will be designing, building, and maintaining the track at GLX this season.  Jake is best known for his demanding track designs in the Arena Cross, Super Cross & Outdoor Motocross sports, but his talents will be on display this year in Snocross at GLX.  Jake plans to build technical tracks that will challenge all skill levels from Pro to Novice while making viewing more enjoyable for the fans at the same time.
  • GLX & GNSS introduce a new Showdown.   We are excited to announce a new twist to affiliate racing this season. Great Lakes Snocross & Great Northern Snocross have developed a Showdown where each program will host the other in a regular point’s race bringing the two series together for two exciting days of racing. Saturday January 11, 2014 at GLX in Wauconda, IL and Saturday January 25, 2014 at GNSS in Plymouth, WI
