Winnipeg, Man. (December 19, 2016) – Jimmy John’s, Ski-Doo, Lucas Oil, FXR racer Aki Pihlaja was undefeated throughout every round of Pro Lite racing at the latest national snocross tour stop in Winter Park, Colorado, taking over the lead in the class championship.
This was the first time the ISOC tour has held an event in Colorado and Pihlaja was right at home on the high speed, mountainside course. Heavy snow, high winds and cold temperatures were all part of the weekend, but Pihlaja, who has not finished lower than second place in any of the class finals this year, stayed focused on the task at hand.
It was a rough weekend for Pro Open racer Adam Renheim, who was caught in a pileup shortly after the start of his first heat race on Friday. Renheim had to sit out the rest of the day while being evaluated for concussion-like symptoms, but was able to line up again on Saturday.
Renheim made his way into the main event via the Last Chance Qualifier where he was able to score a ninth place finish after starting from the tenth position on the front row.
The team will now have a brief holiday break before racing resumes on January 6-8 at the Canterbury Park National in Shakopee, Minnesota, presented by Jimmy John’s.
