Shakopee, MN (March 24, 2017) – The ski hill at Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, played host to the Snocross Grand Finale this past March 17-19. One of the most anticipated events of the season, champions have been crowned at Lake Geneva for the past two decades, and this past weekend Hentges Racing’s Kody Kamm was looking to put his name on the list of Pro Open points champions. He entered the event a close second in the standings and, with three points races available on the weekend, slotting into the No. 1 spot was more than possible. But Lake Geneva and its steep uphill and downhill runs and massive whoop sections brings its own challenges and winning there is no easy task.
Kamm cruised into Friday night’s final winning both his heats but his final nearly ended on the first lap with a near crash. Kamm came back to win the race, making it clear he would not leave without putting up a fight for the title. Day 2 Kamm claimed second in the final, then came back to win Day 3. In all, he was near perfect on the weekend, winning every heat and two finals, only faltering on Saturday when he claimed 2nd.
“It was a great weekend,” Kamm said. “It doesn’t get any better. I can’t thank the team enough for all their hard work and support this season.”
Petter Narsa entered Lake Geneva looking to shake some of the bad luck that seems to have cursed him since he won the gold medal in the Winter X Games snocross. Narsa never finished lower than 3rd in heat racing but fought tough breaks in the finals. Friday he crashed on the first lap but fought back to finish 7th. Saturday he claimed the 8th spot and Sunday posted his best of the weekend, a 6th place finish.
“This weekend capped off a great season for me as well as the team,” Narsa said. “We achieved a lot and I have to thank Hentges Racing for all the support.”
After a total of 17 races, Kamm finished 1st in Pro Open points, 13-points clear of 2nd place. Narsa finished 5th place in Pro Open points.
