Princeton, Minn. March 16, 2015 – Despite a shoulder injury that has plagued him for more than half of the AMSOIL Championship snocross season, Trevor Leighton persevered through the pain to finish fifth in the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Pro Lite standings.

Coming into the grand finale at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, the class championship was a long shot, however, the battle for second place would be heavily contested among four racers. Leighton, like he has done all season, qualified with remarkable consistency, finishing second in every round. However, in the longer main events, the repeated pounding was too much to overcome as his shoulder popped out of place five times over the weekend contributing to fifth and sixth place finishes in the finals. As a result Leighton ends the season fifth overall, just five points out of second.

“Fighting that shoulder injury all year definitely hurt me,” said Leighton. The whole year was I would say a positive. Working with Robbie Malinoski we made a lot of improvements but now I have to go back and have another surgery and hopefully come back and get some wins. I’m not sure what I’ll be doing as far as a class yet but we’ll get some work done and be back next year.”

For Corin Todd, the weekend meant three straight days of Pro Open racing and an opportunity to secure his place as the top rookie in the class. Todd scored main event finishes of eighth, ninth and tenth in Lake Geneva to meet his season goal of consistently being in the top 10, which was also good enough to edge out Warnert Racing’s John Stenberg for top rookie honors.

The team will now focus on getting healthy, while we also complete our new race shop in Zimmerman, Minnesota. The walls are up and the floor is poured as Team Manager Robbie Malinoski and head mechanic Josh Swieton will soon be putting their touches on what is to be one of the finest team facilities in the sport.
