Ingles Performance kicks off 2018-19 season in fine style Leo Patenaude notches two Pro Lite wins
PHOENIX, N.Y. (Dec. 12, 2018) – Multi-time regional snocross champions Ingles Performance is enjoying a stellar start to its 2018-19 season, scoring big for Ski-doo and its other valued partners at Rounds 1 & 2 at Duluth (Minnesota) and Rounds 3 & 4 in Jackson Hole (Wyoming).
Leading the five-rider squad was Vermont native Leo Patenaude, who scored back-to-back Pro Lite wins in Round 2 and 3. Leo had been training hard throughout the off-season and felt the 2019 Ski-doo race sled was going to be fast. Turns out, he’s as fit as ever and the MXZx 600RS is a rocket.
“That first corner was crazy all weekend,” Patenaude said, referring to a tight-apex, hard left turn in Duluth with very little berm to utilize at the bottom of the hill. “We survived the carnage that corner produced, stayed out front and put it all together. It feels just amazing.
“Having Jason and Matt Boron in my trailer helped me a lot, this whole team has worked hard to make us better. My new Ski-doo is the best I’ve ever raced, and I’m super happy with its power and handling. I’m happy to earn this win for me, the Ingles, BRP and all of our great sponsors.”
Patenaude’s confidence level got a huge boost, and he carried the momentum out west into Round 3 at Jackson Hole’s famed Snow King Mountain. His No. 200 Ingles Performance/Ski-doo blasted off the line, yet had to fend off a heated challenge from brother Hunter in the closing laps.
Leo would hold on to claim his second consecutive National Pro Lite victory, leading 12 of 14 laps in another amazing performance.
“I can’t tell you how fun it was to battle with my brother up front,” Patenaude added. “I knew he was there, he kept digging like I knew he would. It’s always fun to race with him, but I’m glad we could hold them off tonight for the victory. This means so much to me, my team and my family.”
His Saturday program saw a few struggles in qualifying, yet he soldiered on to earn a solid 4th-place finish in the 14-lap Final. It may be early, yet Patenaude is off to a great start in the points.
Alissah Ashline got her 2018-19 season off to a strong start in Duluth, scoring a solid fourth-place finish in Sunday’s Pro Women final. Marco Travaglini also competed in Duluth and earned a 14th-place finish in Friday night’s challenging Sport final.
Travaglini also traveled to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and claimed an 11th-place finish on Saturday. Team co-owner Robin Ingles is proud of the strong start her athletes have enjoyed thus far.
“Mike and I couldn’t be happier with the results these kids are getting out west,” Ingles said. “Leo is taking full advantage of Ski-doo’s impressive new MXZx 600RS, proving he can win finals at the National level. Marco is making gains, and Alissah was solid at Duluth. We’re thrilled for Ski-doo and all of our great partners. I hope we can continue this way after the holiday break.”
The 2018-19 AMSOIL Championship Snocross series continues with Rounds 5 and 6 on Jan. 4-5 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota. The Pirtek Snocross National can be viewed on ISOC’s Live Stream, with a link easily found at snocross.com.
