Fertile, Minn. (February 27, 2013) – Just South of Buffalo, Seneca, New York, is nestled on the fringes of the scenic Allegheny National Forest. The area receives huge amounts of lake effect snow from Lake Erie and is a top destination for area snowmobilers. It was also the site of this past weekend’s ISOC Seneca Allegany Snocross, the only Eastern race on the 2013 Snocross National schedule and host to Round 11-12 of the series.
With Garth Kaufman out with a back injury, Logan Christian was left to carry the flag for Christian Brothers Racing in New York. He just missed transferring to the final during Friday night’s racing, landing in the LCQ where he finished second. Starting from the back row he fought to an 8th place finish in the rough track built next to Seneca Allegany Casino. He came back Saturday and went 2-3 in heats which sent him straight to the final where he again came in 8th.
In the Sport National class, CBR rider Tyler Adams had a great weekend finishing 6th in Sport 1 and 2nd in Sport 2. The Sport class is highly-competitive and simply making the final could be called success, so a second place podium finish is huge for the first-year National rider.
“It was a tough weekend,” said Christian. “Starts were critical because the track was really rough and had some different kinds of jumps that made it hard to pass. We just didn’t get the breaks we needed this weekend.”
Meanwhile, at the 2000-mile Iron Dog race in Alaska, CBR riders Eric Quam and Brian Dick were battling for the overall win. They had been slotted into second most of the race and headed into the final days started running into some hard luck with their equipment. A freak failure in the driveline meant they had to do a major fix, then the same part failed in the team’s other sled finally putting them out of the race on the last day.
“We had a great race going and it really looked like we were going to get at least second place, if not a win,” said Brian. “But when you’re racing for 2,000 miles so many different things can happen and you can only prepare for so many of them. Sometimes when it all boils down to it you just need a lot of luck.”
“Once again, our team worked really hard this weekend,” said Christian Brothers Racing team co-owner Dwight Christian. “Things didn’t go our way in New York and I thought Brian and Eric were going to win the Iron Dog but they didn’t have any luck either. But we keep moving forward and we are looking toward next weekend already.”
