Minneapolis – Dec. 8, 2011 – The world’s top professional snowmobile racers – including Minnesota natives Tucker Hibbert and Levi LaVallee – converge on Shakopee’s Canterbury Park Racetrack and Card Casino, Jan. 6-7, when the ISOC AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series (ACSS) stops for rounds 5 & 6 – The Traxxas National, presented by Jimmy John’s – of the 2011-’12 tour. This is the Twin Cities’ first opportunity of the new year to see high speed/big air motocross-style snowmobile racing just minutes from downtown Minneapolis!

Tickets start at $15 and are available at the gate or online at www.canterburypark.com and snocross.com

Not only does ACSS racing at Canterbury Park showcase the best pro racers, fans will also get to see the top amateur kids and women racers – many of whom are from Minnesota. Watch two full days of great racing in front of Canterbury’s comfortable indoor stadium seating setting, featuring all of the amenities associated with a professional racing circuit – right in the middle of the Minnesota winter!

Pelican Rapids’ Hibbert (Monster Energy/Arctic Cat) is the most successful professional snocross racer in the history of the sport. Hibbert, 27, is the defending and six-time AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series overall champion, the 2010 FIM World Snocross champion and five-time defending Winter X Games Snocross gold medalist. LaVallee (Red Bull/Polaris), of Longville, is the 2008-’09 ACSS Pro Stock overall champion, four-time Winter X Games gold medalist and has the distinction of being the man to hold the Guinness Book of World Records mark for the longest snowmobile jump ever at an astonishing 361 feet.

The snowmobile industry is headquartered in Minnesota, with both Hibbert’s and LaVallee’s sled sponsors – Arctic Cat (Thief River Falls) and Polaris (Medina) – located in the state.

“I think since we live here and snowmobiling is just a normal part of life, people don’t realize the racing talent that’s in this state,” said Hibbert. “I’m excited to have Canterbury Park back on the ACSS schedule. It’s a first-class venue and always draws a huge crowd. Snowmobilers know about the event and support it. I would like to see more people from the Twin Cities and surrounding areas get into the event and cheer on their home state racers!”

In addition to the great racing Canterbury will host a number of the industry’s top freestyle snowmobilers, jumping and performing tricks – including an awe-inspiring back flip on a snowmobile – during the evening racing show. ISOC Freestyle, fueled by Monster Energy.
