For Immediate Release

Finley, ND (October 31, 2018) –  KC Motorsports has teamed with Project Ignite Light, an organization, based out of North Dakota, through which children are provided important items needed when they are examined by their Local Advocacy Center or Hospital for Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse or Neglect.

The team’s mission is to get the word out about this non-profit organization and at each Snocross race collect pajamas for children ages newborn – 18. These pajamas are put into “Bags of Hope,” along with other comforting items that are given to children when they are interviewed and examined. KC Motorsports will have a drop-off bin available near the pit entrance of each race for pajama donations.

“As a race team, we also plan to donate our time soon, helping at the Project Ignite Light office, putting together tie blankets and assembling the “Bags of Hope” that they make available to children,” said Kelsey Christian.  Their founder, Pebbles Thompson, is an incredibly giving person and her mission to help ease and comfort a child in the transition of a traumatic and frightening situation is something that we admire.  Our team wants to help out any way possible and we thought bringing awareness of their organization to the fans of Snocross would be a great way to do that.  Snocross fans (and race fans in general) are some of the most generous people and we know that helping out a child makes all of us feel good. Jay, Evan, and the rest of our team are very excited to be involved with Project Ignite Light.”

To donate new Pajamas, look for the team collection box at each round of ISOC snocross beginning in Duluth, Minnesota on November 23-25.

About Project Ignite Light
In 2008 over 4000 children were seen around the state of North Dakota for Abuse or Neglect and it is the goal of Project Ignite Light to equip each child that enters a hospital or Advocacy Center to be seen for these reasons with a “Bag of Hope.”

Every “Bag of Hope” includes:”

  • Fleece Tie Blanket
  • Pajamas / Socks / Underwear
  • 2-in-1 Shampoo / Conditioner
  • Toothbrush / Toothpaste
  • Fruit Snacks / Water Bottle
  • Flashlight
  • Book: “You Are Special” by Max Lucado
  • Zipper Tote Bag to hold all their new special items
  • (Teen Girl bags also include deodorant and a personal journal)

Often children in these situations are left feeling insecure and unsure of themselves and the people around them. Through Project Ignite Light we give them a small piece of security. Because so many of the hurting children feel used only new items are placed in the bags. Every item that is placed in their personal bag has a special purpose other than the obvious daily uses. This could be allowing their caregiver time to wash their daily outfit to giving the child control over something as simple as a flashlight. We feel every item on this list is a valuable tool to the betterment of a child’s life. However, due to the vast number of children in need we will only succeed if the people around us get behind this worthy cause! Please partner with us to share Light in a dark place.

The entire team will play a role in our support of Project Ignite Light, from promoting their message on our race sleds to helping fill tote bags at their headquarters and collecting donations from race fans at the events.
